The aim of Research Department is to identify and initiate applied as well as cross-disciplinary research work, projects, create and combine patentable Intellectual Property (IP) components, design and develop prototypes & proof of concepts, manage and market products & solutions (through know-how transferred incubated companies), win and work to deliver funded research projects.

Policies
Admission in PhD
The various departments of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Delhi-NCR Campus, Modinagar organize Conferences, Seminars and Workshops periodically. These activities and forums help expose young minds to the latest innovations and scientific trends, thereby generating an interest in research. Students as well as Faculties are encouraged to take up innovative, socially relevant research projects. Such projects are funded by SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Main campus as seed money.

Duration
Under extraordinary circumstances if the candidate fails to submit the thesis within the maximum period, further extension of the period for a maximum of two years may be granted by the Vice Chancellor, on the recommendations of the Doctoral Committee. Women candidates and Persons with Disability (more than 40% disability) may be allowed relaxation of two years in maximum duration, plus Maternity/Child Care Leave up to 240 days.

Instructions
All fields marked with * in the application form are mandatory to be filled.
Please keep the following self-attested scanned documents ready before filling the application form.
Passport sized (dimension 200 × 230 pixels preferred) photograph and signature (dimension 140 × 60 pixels preferred).
After successful submission of the application form, an application number will be generated. Save that number for future reference and communications.
Stipend
All Full-Time PhD scholars who are selected for provisional registration PhD Admission (Jan / July session) will be paid Rs. 25,000/- per month for a maximum period of 3 years. Candidates who have qualified in UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / GATE / GPAT will be paid Rs. 31,000/- per month for a maximum period of 3 years. The eligibility for availing stipend every year, subsequent to the provisional registration, will be based on the progress made in research during the previous year, as part of PhD.
